Pilomatrixoma

Abstract
Author experienced a case of pilomatrixoma at Department of General Surgery, Korea University Hospital. The calcifying epithelioma is a benign tumor of the skin which was first described by Malherbe and Chenantais in 1880.
The origin of the tumor from the hair matrix cell in 1933 by Beck was confirmed and extended by Turhan and, Krainer. More recently Forbis and Helwig made certain histochemical and polariscopic observations that support previous reports and proposed an appropriated nomenclature, pilomatrixoma.
Calcifying epithelioma on the occipital region and both arms measured (6.5 X 6.5 X4.9 cm) in size and easily removed from subcutaneous tissue with encapsulation.
The tumor cell composed of shadow cells and basophilic cells with calcified matrix was found in microscopic examination.
